Papalo $3.50

(Porophyllum ruderale) Pungent herb used much like cilantro. Blue-green leaves are almost always used fresh in salads, salsas, guacamole, beans and stews. Add to cooked dishes at the last minute to retain flavor. This herb is native to Mexico, as well as Central and South America, where restaurants often keep vases of branches on tables for diners to use as desired. Papalo is an annual that likes hot weather and dry soil, although we have grown it in our clay soil with great results. Multi-branched plant will reach 4-5' in a single season, so you can take many cuttings over the season.
